Silver Lace Onyx

Silver Lace Onyx pendant in sterling silver

Silver Lace Onyx is found in the Calico Mountains of California. Set in Sterling Silver.

Silver Lace Onyx is a unique travertine (a type of calcite) found in the Calico Mountains of California. It is characterized by white, gray, and honey-colored layers with distinctive sprays of black manganese dendrites, which resemble miniature trees or lace patterns. Discovered in the early 1900s during a silver mining rush, it was named by Lucille Burns McShan Coke. It is highly valued by lapidaries for creating cabochons and other ornamental items. However, commercial mining is no longer common due to the material’s inaccessibility.

This old time favorite Onyx is said to actually have silver in it. One thing it has that is quite nice and uncommon is the black saginite. It makes its home in the Calico Mountains, California. Rumors have it that the site is off limits to collectors.

Sagenite is a stone traditionally used by wise-women or shamans. It is said to enable safe passage into other worlds and provides strong protection while doing so. This is particularly true during Soul Retrieval. Furthermore, Sagenite is said to be a crystal of truth. It helps us to realize things about ourselves that need to change to follow the right path.
